Man, I had an awesome dream.

Seems like they are coming more vivid since my dad dropped a bombshell on me the other day. I'll get into that on a later blog, hopefully. But anyway, this dream may sound crazy but it is so profound and I'd like to make an animated short about this. But for now I'll share it with you all.

Well it starts out in a winter scene. Snow all around. And in the middle of the snow stands a snowman, that starts moving. He is walking and walking, the background changes with mountains and snow drifts, forests. As he walks he runs into obstacles like trees that move in close together as he tries to pass, a huge snow drift to wide and high to get around. He just walks through them. When he goes through the trees he looses some of his body/snow, but as the snow keeps falling it and as he walks it comes back. He just walks through the snow drift and comes out bigger than the snow drift it's self! Wow!

Other times he falls, and breaks apart. But the largest piece keeps going and rolls down a hill and grows as it picks up more snow. And then the piece of the snow man lands on top of a lump of snow and it turns into another snowman and he keeps walking.

So he keeps walking and the whole time this great music is playing in the background, singing of courage, and strength and faith in God. It was awesome! He walks up a huge mountain and as the snowman melts, the water turns into small stream that runs down into a lake that leads to a water treatment center that leads to a pipe that leads to a home where fresh water is given to a child. The camera follows the water as it moves through ice and under the snow in a cut away view.

That is awesome to me, that the snowman worked so hard just to give of himself to nourish another. And any obstacle you come up against can be overcome as long as it is on your path of purpose.

Just Deep. I don't know if it is deep to you, but I woke up with a life lesson this morning.

AWESOME!!!!

Something to say

Can I say something?

I am proud of my people! I'm looking back on all the things AFRICAN AMERICAN people did for the Hurricane victims. I mean we REALLY got together on this thing. We made White folk move! you know? I mean just a taste of our true power as a collective was seen. We went out and worked, raised money, got on t.v. and voiced some concerns, almost scared "the establishment". The last few months I've felt particularly proud to have beautiful brown skin.

Here's my question:

Why did it take a disaster for us to tap into this collective power we've had for centuries? We still have a proverbial Hurricane destroying our nation. It's the biggest one yet! It's strong. It has been gaining energy for years and it's hovering over our country stretching from coast to coast. Our people are being ravaged by educational institutions, the criminal justice system, correctional system, our dysfunctional families, dead churches, and our political system.

Can we donate to these relief efforts? Can we volunteer to work for agencies that right injustices? Can we put our money in community based churches and schools? Can we support entertainers that are socially conscious? Can we shelter abused children? Can we rebuild run down schools and homes in our community? Can I do more than complain about the state of my people and actually get my hands dirty?

I pray that i can.
